In this class we will build upon the young actor’s previous performing arts training in the areas of singing, acting, dancing, directing, stage management, and production, while emphasizing cultural literacy in the arts by infusing an understanding of its history. Students will embark on a journey that follows comedic greats such as Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Abbot and Costello, and Carol Burnett as they learn comedic timing and slapstick comedy. They will go back to the silent screen and Charlie Chaplin to learn pantomime. Musical performance stars such as Streisand and Bennet will be explored as well. Students will learn about scene study, character analysis, and how to break down a song to perform. This class will culminate in an open class for parents to view and take part in. Note: Only students who have previously taken a full year ACT class at Wagner College are eligible for this class. Ballet shoes are required.
