About Holocaust and Human Rights Studies

This minor trains students to critically examine major political and cultural events — in both the past and the present — using the interrelated frameworks of human rights, ethics, moral philosophy and international law.

Students minoring in Holocaust & Human Rights Studies will learn about:

  • Crimes against humanity
  • The power of resistance and rescue networks
  • The fragility of democracy
  • The use of the media in spreading racism, discrimination and prejudice
  • The cultivation of empathy, courage and memory through film, theater, art and the social sciences
  • The value of education and community engagement to promote peace and human dignity
