About Holocaust and Human Rights Studies
This minor trains students to critically examine major political and cultural events — in both the past and the present — using the interrelated frameworks of human rights, ethics, moral philosophy and international law.
Students minoring in Holocaust & Human Rights Studies will learn about:
- Crimes against humanity
- The power of resistance and rescue networks
- The fragility of democracy
- The use of the media in spreading racism, discrimination and prejudice
- The cultivation of empathy, courage and memory through film, theater, art and the social sciences
- The value of education and community engagement to promote peace and human dignity
