Overview

About Human Services

Human Services is a growing industry. There is increasing demand for human service professionals in the fields of child, adult, family and community services who can serve in various organizations and settings. Human Service professionals work with diverse populations providing a wide variety of social, personal, and health services depending on the need of the individual, group or community. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics’ February 2024 report projects a 7.8% increase in employment in the area of Community and Social Services Occupations between 2022-2032. This is more than twice the 2.8% expected increase in all occupations.

To meet the diverse needs for Human Services professionals, Wagner College offers three distinct areas of concentration: Social Work/Family Studies, Criminal Justice and Pre-Law. In addition to traditional coursework, students will gain valuable experience during a field internship. Coursework and field experiences provides students with the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real life experiences. The program prepares students for employment as well as for advanced study (particularly in Social Work, Therapy or Law).
