On Tuesday, October 31st at 4:30 p.m. in the Campus Hall Performance Center, we will present a lecture-recital, "Music of the Reformation" on the 500th anniversary to the day of Luther's nailing of the 95 theses to the door of the Cathedral in Wittenberg.
Wagner College Choir and our Treble Concert Choir will be joined by a very fine chamber orchestra of authentic Baroque instruments to perform works by J.S. Bach, Telemann, Buxtehude, Schütz, Sweelinck, Gibbons. We will also perform a few more contemporary (and toe-tapping) examples of music that we have, thanks to the cataclysmic changes brought about by the Reformation: a lively American folk hymn, an African worship song and a traditional spiritual. Conducted by Roger Wesby and Beth Johanning.
