Wagner College junior Hannah Sapitan, a vocal performance major from Oregon, will compete in the semifinal round of this year’s NATS Student Auditions, a nationwide competition sponsored by the National Association of Teachers of Singing. The winner takes home a prize of up to $36,000.
To make the semifinals, as Sapitan has, contestants must rank among the top five contestants in their category and region. The top three in each category advance to the finals, scheduled for mid-July during the NATS Virtual Summer Workshop.
Hannah Sapitan, a soprano, is a voice student of Oregon soprano Erin McCarthy. At Wagner College, she studies voice with Professor Anthony Turner.
For her regional audition, Hannah sang “Shy” from “Once Upon a Mattress,” “Unusual Way” from “Nine,” “The Planetarium” from “One Way,” and “No One Else” from “Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812.”
Congratulations, Hannah Sapitan — and break a leg!
