    At the 2023 Senior Awards ceremony on Thursday, May 18, Wagner College recognized these 64 students for outstanding achievement in a variety of fields of study and service. Congratulations!

    Christina Nicole Amuso won the Education Department Five Cs Award, given to the education major who best personifies the “Five Cs”: a caring, curious, competent, committed and community-active professional.

    Chiamara Anyanwu won the Verrazano Memorial Prize, given in recognition of outstanding academic achievement in the study of government and politics.

    Mohamed Saleh Askar won the Dorothy Schaffer Memorial Award, given in recognition of outstanding achievement in computer science.

    Madelyn Bach won the Robert deCsipkes Memorial Prize for Clinical Potential, given in recognition of outstanding clinical potential in psychology.

    DiMaggio Cazares won the Eduardo Chirinos Spanish Award, given for outstanding work in the study of the Spanish language and its literature.

    Jeannine Colasanto won the Constance Byron Award, given in recognition of academic merit, leadership qualities, tenacious spirit, thoughtfulness and caring for others.

    Kerriann Connelly Carro won the Jules Elle Bittner Promising Pediatric Nurse Award, given to a student who is an example of clinical excellence in pediatric settings as evidenced by compassion in the clinical and community setting.

    Eric Rand Crouse won the Wagner College Prize in Mathematics, given in recognition of outstanding achievement in mathematics.

    Max A. Crowder won the Dreyfus Prize, given in recognition of academically outstanding work in chemistry.

    Bridget Yvette Damon won five awards:

    • the Resident Assistant Award, given to a resident assistant who demonstrates excellence in the position.
    • the Thomas Carroll Award for Environmental Sustainability, given in recognition of dedication in leading the campus toward a more environmentally sustainable future.
    • the Biopsychology Award, given in recognition of academic excellence in biopsychology.
    • the John ’53 and Gloria Deane Award, given for academic excellence and the desire to pursue work in the field of environmental sciences.
    • the Donald W. Spiro Award for Best Academic Achievement, given in recognition of outstanding academic and co-curricular achievements, Wagner College’s top student honor.

    Emily Downes won the Nursing Faculty Award, given to a compassionate student leader who is patient and family centered.

    Marie-Chloe Duval won the Rev. Piotr Pilch Prize in Fine Arts, given to an outstanding and promising art student.

    Alicia Erlandson won two awards:

    • the Biopsychology Award, given in recognition of academic excellence in biopsychology.
    • the George G. Hackman Prize in Religious Studies, given to the student with the highest academic average of all courses taken in the religion minor.

    Richard Folderauer won the Eva Lazar Gabriel Music Award, presented to an excellent student who shares the love for music cherished by Eva Lazar Gabriel.

    Lauren Foley won the Robert deCsipkes Memorial Prize for Research Potential, given in recognition of outstanding research potential in psychology.

    Jennifer Gatto won the Jane Hadley Goldsack Nursing Prize, given to a nursing student pursuing an advanced nursing degree at Wagner College.

    Seong Gillespie won two awards:

    • the Julia M. Barchitta Award for Civic Engagement, given for bridging academic achievement and contributions to the community participating in the Civic Engagement Certificate Program.
    • the Hertha Troll Meyer Memorial Award, given in recognition of exemplary scholarship and service in sociology and anthropology.

    Amanda Giordano won the Student Nurse Association Award, given in recognition of academic merit and leadership in diverse community activities.

    Gabriella Goldschmidt won the Kevin Sheehy Award in Biology, given for achieving the highest cumulative grade point average in the biology major.

    Achintha Hettiarchi won the Janice M. Buddensick Award for Excellence in Accounting, given in recognition of outstanding achievement in accounting, high standards of leadership and good moral character.

    Hasan Ibrahim won the Julia M. Barchitta Award for Civic Engagement, given for bridging academic achievement and contributions to the community participating in the Civic Engagement Certificate Program.

    Katrice Jackson won the The Dolly Award in Theatre for Performance, given in recognition of excellence in performance.

    James Jones won the Film and Media Award in Art, given to a student who displays passion for film and media and has excelled at the art form.

    Erin Kelly won the Ann H. and Norbert H. Leeseberg Undergraduate Education Award, given to the student who best exemplifies the academic scholarship and community spirit of Dr. Leeseberg.

    Kamy Kempton won the Thomas Kendris Award in Expository & Journalistic Writing, given in recognition of outstanding work in writing courses and journalism.

    Sarah Kovnator won the Sir Peter L. Cardiello Award for Entrepreneurship, given to a student who embraces life and learning and embodies the saying, “What the mind can conceive, the mind can achieve.”

    Parker Krey won the Dolly Award in Theatre for Design, Technology and Management, given in recognition of excellence in the study of design, technology and management.

    Zoe L. Krofchik won the Stephen Greenwald Award for Film, awarded to a talented film and media major with a strong academic record.

    Nicole Kuehne won the Dr. Natale Colosi Microbiology Award, given in recognition of outstanding scholastic achievement in the field of microbiology.

    Ava Lagressa won two awards:

    • the Political Science Award, given for outstanding academic achievement in the study of political science.
    • the Christian P. Holmstrup History Award, given in recognition of the highest grade point average in the study of history.

    Jolie Lenox won two awards:

    • the Michele Connors Tellefsen ‘71 Alpha Delta Pi Leadership Award, given to a dedicated leader in the Gamma Pi chapter as she transitions from being an active to an alumnae member.
    • the Wagner College Physician Assistant Award, given in recognition of the highest overall grade point average in the senior class.

    Christopher Livoti won the Ellen Horrman Award, presented to a student who demonstrates academic excellence in nursing during the clinical experience.

    Emma Luxemburg won the Community Service Award, given in recognition of commitment to community service through campus organizations.

    Taylor Marjamaa won the Janice M. Buddensick Award for Excellence in Accounting, given in recognition of outstanding achievement in accounting, high standards of leadership and good moral character.

    Angelina Massaroli won the Exceptional Performance in Philosophy, given in recognition of academic excellence in philosophy.

    Caitlin McGuire won two awards:

    • the Katherine & Egon Wendel Education Prize, given to a student with a high G.P.A. who intends to pursue the M.S.Ed. degree at Wagner College.
    • the Kappa Mu Epsilon Award, given in recognition of excellence in service and leadership as a mathematics or computer science major.

    Noah McKane won the Weissglass Family Prize, given to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding community investment and involvement while studying at Wagner College.

    Allyson Meehan won the Dr. Rosemary A. Robbins Psychology Department Award, given in recognition of academic excellence in psychology.

    Mia Milton won the Alpha Omicron Pi Award, given in recognition of academic excellence in business administration and exemplary participation in campus activities.

    Maile Mora won the Robbie & Mary Boody Memorial Award in Art, given to recognize exceptional scholarly work in art.

    Kira Mordvinov won the Academic Excellence Award in Sociology, given in recognition of academic excellence in sociology.

    Joy Muller won the Business Administration Award, given in recognition of the student in the Nicolais School of Business with the highest GPA.

    Jillian Rose Olsen won the Verrazano Memorial Prize, given in recognition of outstanding academic achievement in the study of history.

    Devon Pauline won the Wagner College Instrumental Music Award, given in recognition of outstanding musical talent and exemplary dedication to the bands of Wagner College.

    Gia Pecorella won the Dr. Rosemary A. Robbins Psychology Department Award, given in recognition of academic excellence in psychology.

    Jordon Elisabeth Polefka won the Margery Mayer and Sigvart J. Steen Award for Excellence in Music, given in recognition of excellence in choir performance.

    Elisabeth Renda won the Distinguished Leader Award, given to a student who possesses superior qualities of cooperation, decision-making and management.

    Kevin Roach won the English Literature Prize, given in recognition of the highest distinction in the study of English literature.

    Vincent Romeo won two awards:

    • the Education Department Award, given in recognition of outstanding academic achievement in education.
    • the Education Department Culturally Responsive Award, given to a student who is strongly committed to being a culturally responsive teacher.

    Victoria Sam won two awards:

    • the Internationalization Action Award, given to a student who has furthered, exemplified or supported internationalization issues at Wagner College.
    • the Bonner of the Year Award, given to a student who exemplifies the Seahawk spirit of civic engagement and leadership through ongoing community work, democratic engagement and reflective practice.

    Edin Selovic won the Dorothy Schaffer Memorial Award, given in recognition of outstanding achievement in computer science.

    Sohaila Shaaban won two awards:

    • the Periclean Senior Award, given in recognition of an abiding and active sense of social responsibility and civic concern as demonstrated through academic work or community activities.
    • the Dr. Norman L. Freilich Memorial Award, given to a graduating student accepted into dental school.

    Izabella Siek won two awards:

    • the Ann H. and Norbert H. Leeseberg Undergraduate Education Award, given to the student who best exemplifies the academic scholarship and community spirit of Dr. Leeseberg.
    • the Education Department Chair Award - Distinction in Teaching, given in recognition of outstanding achievement in teaching.

    Brandon Stapleton won the Verrazano Memorial Prize, given in recognition of outstanding academic achievement in the study of history.

    Benjamin Stewart won the Health Sciences Award, given in recognition of academic excellence in health sciences.

    Matthew Storti won the Bob Gabriel Memorial Endowed Award in Performance, given to a theater major with an interest in Italian and/or Italian American culture with a proven history of outstanding performance in theater.

    Yasmin Teekasingh won four awards:

    • the Weissglass Family Prize, given to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding community investment and involvement while studying at Wagner College.
    • the Diversity Action Award, given to a student who has furthered, exemplified or supported diversity at Wagner College.
    • the Student Government Award, given in recognition of a student who has demonstrated exemplary service, work, dedication, and leadership abilities within the student body.
    • the Anita Volland Anthropology Award, presented to a student who exemplifies the work and vision of anthropology practiced by Professor Volland, emphasizing the importance of the four fields, the centrality of the culture concept and great intellectual curiosity.

    Mikayla Thrasher won the Nathan and Ruth Wolff Award for Dance, given in recognition of excellence in dance.

    Tiffani-Raye Valentin won the Mary Burr Award, given in recognition of the highest cumulative grade point average in nursing.

    Jai Venkatramana won the Wagner Investment Group Legacy Award, given in recognition of excellence in the investment world.

    Oscar Wang won the Kevin Sheehy Award in Biology, given for achieving the highest cumulative grade point average in the biology major.

    Joseph Whitaker won the Wagner Investment Group Legacy Award, given in recognition of excellence in the investment world.

    Shaked Yacoby won the Harvey Logan Memorial Award in Physics, given in recognition of academically outstanding work in physics.

    Alyssa Zillini won the Wagner College Prize in Mathematics, given in recognition of outstanding achievement in mathematics.
