President emeritus Norman Smith (H’02) has released a second edition of his book “From Bottom to Top Tier in a Decade,” which details the remarkable transformation of Wagner College during his presidency, from 1988-2002. The book also showcases the many trustees, major donors, faculty, and staff who made those changes possible.
The book, detailing his 14-year quest to turn around Wagner’s trajectory, was first published in 2010. It includes many photos taken by Smith himself, as well as articles
written by the Staten Island Advance, which had come to call Smith the “renaissance man” for his turnaround efforts at Wagner. Prior to joining the College, Smith had been an assistant dean at two of Harvard University’s graduate schools, in government and education. After Wagner, he went on to serve as president of Suffolk University, Elmira College, and Richmond American University in London.
The new edition is available in Horrmann Library.
