The Da Vinci Society at Wagner College recently made waves within the community as it celebrated Italian Heritage Month by hosting its 18th annual Scholarship Dinner Gala in Nicotra’s Ballroom at the Hilton Garden Inn on September 28. The event's resounding success not only broke attendance records – bringing together more than 500 students, faculty and local community members – but also underscored the cultural diversity that is an integral part of the Staten Island community.
The event's activities highlighted the contributions of Italian-Americans to Staten Island, from lectures and art exhibits to live performances and culinary experiences.
The Da Vinci Society's mission, rooted in the promotion of Italian culture and heritage, has had an impact on the Wagner College community. The event serves as a major fundraiser in an effort to raise scholarship funds to Staten Island Italian-American students. To date, the Society has awarded well over $1 million in scholarship funds to qualifying students who attend Wagner College.
