ACE speaker Alejandro del Río Herrmann

On Thursday, May 1 at 11:20 a.m. in Campus Hall 208, please join Katica Urbanc’s “Contemporary Hispanic Women Writers” class for a visit with Alejandro del Río Herrmann, senior editor at Editorial Trotta, a publishing house in Madrid. He holds a B.A. in philosophy from the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Valencia in the Department of Human Rights. His doctoral thesis focuses on the work of Simone Weil (“Fuerza, atención y obligación en el pensamiento de Simone Weil”). He has published numerous studies and articles on the works of Weil, including “Pacifism and the Problem of War in the Works of Simone Weil” and “A Method of Resistance.” Río Herrmann is also the author of several translations of works by Immanuel Kant, Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Simone Weil. Before working as an editor and translator, he was a professor of philosophy in Madrid’s School of Philosophy.
