Hugh L. Carey Institute Fall Lecture

The Carey Institute for Government Reform at Wagner College is pleased to host U.S, Representative Hakeem Jeffries who represents New York's 8th Congressional District in Brooklyn and Queens, will deliver the Institute's Fall Lecture on the need for reform of the nation's criminal justice system. Jeffries is uniquely qualified to address the urgent issue of criminal justice, serving on the House Judiciary Committee, and having played an active and leading role on the issue during his years of service in the State Assembly.
The United States , which has the highest rate of incarceration in the world, disproportionately affecting minorities, is grappling with the consequences of unequal justice in crime and punishment policy. The issue is at the center of the current Presidential campaign . Rep. Jeffries will discuss the urgent need for reform and offer proposals and ideas to meet that need.
