‘Songs of Love’ (Anthony Turner)

Join baritone (and Wagner College voice professor) Anthony Turner for an online Valentine’s Day concert entitled “Songs of Love” on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 1 p.m.

The webcast will come from St. Mark’s Church-in-the-Bowery in Manhattan’s East Village. For information, visit the St. Mark’s website. Donations can be made through the website and will be given to St. Mark’s.

Mr. Turner will be singing 10 rare or forgotten gems from the first half of the 20th century (1906-41). Selected musical numbers will include:
• “At Dawning” by James Wakefield Carmen
• “One Alone” from “The Desert Song” by Sigmund Romberg
• “The Song of Songs” by Moya
• “This Love of Mine” by Sol Parker and Henry Sanicola, words by Frank Sinatra

He will be accompanied at the piano by Ms. Ok Kyun Kang.

Anthony Turner has sung in concert, opera and recital performances throughout the United States and Europe in such venues as the Barbican Music Festival, the National Portrait Gallery, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and with Four Seasons Arts Inc.

His commissioned song cycle, “Who Am I?”, music by Mary Carol Warwick, texts from “The Gathering” by Jeannine Otis, focuses on poems by incarcerated youth and has been presented in Houston, New York and Washington, D.C.
