The Power of Resistance

Join the History Department for its senior presentations on “The Power of Resistance: From the War of the Roses to the Battle of Burma.”

Panelists will include Megan Mendez on “Women’s Identity and Agency in 15th Century England: A Look at the Lives of Elizabeth Woodville and Margaret Paston,” Sarah Cappiello on “Clans, Compositions, and Culloden: The Influence of Highland Culture and the Jacobite Rising of 1745,” Oliver Grant on “The Battle of Britain: R.A.F. Success or Luftwaffe Failure” and Aisha Raheel, “The Raj at War: India’s World War II Experience.”

Following the completion of the above discussions, there will be two other panels: “Civil Rights, Disability Rights and Human Rights” (Jessica Catanzaro, Orazio Iannacone, Rashon Pleasants and Jennifer Weile) and “Post-WWII U.S. Politics and Culture: From the Space Race to the Korean War and from Nixon to the Abortion Debate” (Paul Schloeder, Megan Irving, Janine Bednarz and Zuri LaPorte-Airey).

Conversation with Political Analyst and Author, Bob Beckel

Wagner Alum Bob Beckel is the author of a new memoir, “I Should Be Dead: My Life Surviving Politics, TV, and Addiction.” Bob Beckel’s visit will be a unique opportunity to hear from a Wagner alumnus who has been directly involved in some of the most momentous political and foreign policy affairs of the past half century and exchange views with him on current events. Following the program, Beckel will be signing copies of his book.

Beckel’s political career began while he was still a student at Wagner College, when he worked for Robert F. Kennedy’s 1968 presidential campaign. After graduation, he served in the Philippines as a Peace Corps volunteer from 1971 to 1972 and taught politics at George Washington University. In 1977, Beckel joined the U.S. State Department as the youngest deputy assistant secretary of state in the Carter Administration, helping shepherd the Panama Canal Treaty to ratification. Carter then named him as a special congressional liaison working on the SALT II treaty and Mideast affairs. Beckel was campaign manager for Walter Mondale’s 1984 presidential campaign. He became known for coining the campaign slogan, “Where’s the beef?” Beckel went on to be an analyst on the Fox News Channel, where he co-hosted the program, “The Five.” He is now a CNN pundit and columnist for USA Today.

Mock Rehearsal of The Most Happy Fella and Wine Reception

On November 30, Wagner College Theatre will host a special mock rehearsal of The Most Happy Fella, their newest show on the Mainstage.

Guests will have the memorable opportunity to observe the creative process as the artists make last minute preparations before opening night. Be prepared for a look behind the scenes of one of the best theatre departments in the country, this is surely a night you won't want to miss.

A wine and cheese reception will follow the mock rehearsal. Guests will have the chance to speak with the actors/actresses.

OX Fam is an incredible organization that helps bring awareness to class differences and hunger throughout the world by facilitating and sponsoring events across the country.

The OX Fam banquet is an event in which participants will be exposed to the varying levels of living conditions different classes have to deal with in regards to food portions, while exposing participants to the feelings and issues that come with this separation. This event is a great way to start the discussion on how to bridge the gap, and what we can do as individuals to help.
