April is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month! This event will start off with keynote speaker Nelson Kim, he will discuss the role of Asian Americans in Film/Media. Afterward, we will have a panel discussion on topics related to Asian Americans. Refreshments provided!

Meet & greet: Fulbright scholar Mikiko Nishimura

Join us in Union 203 (Center for Leadership & Community Engagement) for a meet-and-greet with visiting Fulbright scholar Mikiko Nishimura, senior associate professor of sociology of education at the International Christian University in Japan. Prior to her current position, she served as associate professor at Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies at Kobe University, Japan, associate specialist in education at Japan International Cooperation Agency and a consultant in international educational development. Her primary research interests are analysis of education reforms and policies, community participation and accountability in education, school choice, gender in education, liberal arts education and internationalization of higher education. She has worked extensively in education planning and research and has been involved in project formulation, implementation and evaluation in education and poverty alleviation in 14 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Her recent co-edited books include "Gender and International Educational Development" (Fukumura Shuppan, 2013), "Comparative Analysis on Universal Primary Education Policy and Practice in Sub-Saharan Africa: The Cases of Ghana, Kenya, Malawi and Uganda" (Sense Publishers, 2015), and "Liberal Arts Education and Colleges in East Asia: Possibilities and Challenges in the Global Age" (Springer, 2016).

Take Back the Night

April 11, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

STARTS OUTSIDE MAIN HALL. "Take Back the Night" is an event to show support to survivors of sexual, relationship and domestic violence. A candlelight march will begin outside of Main Hall at 7:30 p.m., looping around campus, and ending in Spiro 2 for a speak out. Participants are encouraged to wear purple in support of survivors.
