On April 26th, in Spiro 2 at 5 PM the Carey Institute will present a talk with Professor Kermit Roosevelt III.

Professor Roosevelt, a Constitutional law scholar and author, will discuss some of the Supreme Court cases that will be decided during this term of the Court, including: The Gerrymander cases on limits to the power of States to redraw Congressional district lines, a decision that could change the future of politics in the U.S.; the Masterpiece Bakery case on the right to deny services to gay persons on the basis of a vendor’s religious beliefs; the right of labor unions to collect dues from non-members, a case that could destroy the political power of the public union; the right of government to seize and search cellphone records, and more. Professor Roosevelt will analyze and explain the cases and offer his thoughts on the likely outcomes. He will also address the theory of originalism as a standard for adjudication.

Kermit Roosevelt III, a constitutional law scholar, is Professor of Law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. A graduate of Harvard University and Yale Law School, Professor Roosevelt clerked with U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Souter. HAIR

April 26, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm
Main Hall Theatre, Staten Island, 10301

The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical celebrates the Sixties counterculture in all its barefoot, long-haired, bell- bottomed, and fringed glory. To an infectiously energetic rock beat (music by Staten Island’s own Galt MacDermot), the show features popular anthems like “Aquarius,” “Good Morning, Starshine,” “Hair,” and “Let the Sun Shine.” Hair reminds us of such ideals as peace, love, and acceptance — and what it means to be young and believe you can change the world. Directed and choreographed by Darren Lee, music direction by David Sisco.

Contact the Wagner College Box Office at 718-390-3259 for tickets.
