Eagle Academy Mentor Training

September 20, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Did you know that 75% of the black and Latino male population in the NY State prison system originated from 7 zip codes in the New York City area? One of those zip codes is home to the Stapleton community on Staten Island.

The 100 Black Men organization in New York City created a solution to address this school to prison pipeline via the creation of a public school in the Bronx over 15 years ago. This school, known as the Eagle Academy functions as public school but operates like a charter school. The school is an all-male academy targeting low-income black and Latino boys and they are in need of mentors.

Wagner College is a local partner with the Eagle Academy and we want to help those young men realize the dreams that each of you live every day.... to be a college student.

You can help us, by agreeing to commit 8 hours a month (3 hours every other Saturday and one point of contact a week either email, text, or a call) mentoring these young men for the next academic year. Join us in Union 201 the Black and Latino Male Initiative and learn more about becoming an Eagle Academy mentor.
