Please join us this Friday, Feb. 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the HORRMANN LIBRARY’S SPOTLIGHT GALLERY for a reception celebrating photographers Marilyn Kiss and miguel Ángel and their latest two-person show, “The M&m Exhibit: A Farewell to the Spotlight Gallery.” The exhibition is on display through Feb. 28; visit wagner.edu/library for hours. Both the reception and the exhibition are free and open to the public.
Wagner College modern languages professor Marilyn Kiss, who began teaching on Grymes Hill in 1989, decided last year to retire and is currently on sabbatical. Honored in 2007 by the Wagner College circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, the international leadership honor society, Kiss was also honored in 2010 with the college’s inaugural Internationalization Action Council Award for her years of service as study-abroad coordinator. Last year, the Metropolitan New York Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese named her Teacher of the Year. Kiss is the author of two volumes of poetry, “Signal Moments: Poems of Loss and an Antidote” (2007) and “Pacharán Dreams: The Pamplona Poems” (2011), both published by Plain View Press.
Longtime partners Kiss and Ángel have been very active for many years in the Staten Island community of photographers, participating in numerous group exhibitions. This is their third dual exhibition in the Spotlight Gallery.
TEDx style talks throughout the afternoon on topics presented by members of the Wagner College community related to life beyond college.
