DESCRIPTION:PICNIC by William Inge brings to life the heat and tension of a sweltering Labor Day morning in a small Kansas town\, where the women of a quiet neighborhood prepare for the annual picnic. Amidst the preparations\, watchful mother Flo Owens hopes her beautiful daughter\, Madge\, will receive a proposal from the wealthy Alan\, while younger sister Millie dreams of escaping their small-town life. Good-natured Mrs. Potts enjoys a rare break from caring for her elderly mother\, and spinster schoolteacher Rosemary keeps her boyfriend\, Howard\, at arm’s length. However\, their seemingly tranquil lives are upended when Hal Carter\, a muscular and charming drifter with ties to Alan\, arrives unexpectedly.
