“Talk on life, work as a diplomat”

Join the Department of Government & Politics for a conversation with Ana Escrogima, Diplomat in Residence for the New York Metro region.

Based at CCNY, Escrogima’s assignment is to talk with area students about the life and work of an American foreign service officer. Before becoming DIR, Escrogima managed a team of foreign and civil service officers working in Syria who provided policy advice to senior government officials. Before that, she served as an adviser to Undersecretary for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman on Iran and Middle East issues; as the deputy director of the U.S. Office of Press and Public Diplomacy in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs; as an Arabic language spokeswoman in Dubai; as a political officer in Baghdad, and in other diplomatic assignments in Damascus and Tunis.

Wagner College Theatre wraps up its 2014-15 Main Stage season with one of the world’s most popular musicals, “Cats,” from April 22-25 and April 29 through May 3. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, with 2 p.m. weekend matinees on April 25, May 2 and May 3.

Featuring music by Andrew Lloyd Webber (“Evita,” “Jesus Christ Superstar”) and based on “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats,” a collection of poems by T.S. Eliot, “Cats” tells the story, in song and dance, of the annual gathering of Jellicle cats, when one special cat is selected to ascend to the Heaviside layer.
