International Film Festival: Short Films from Ethiopia
The Wagner College Film Studies and Modern Languages Departments will be hosting a week of international films from 6pm - 9pm in Spiro Hall Room 3.
Night Two will feature Short Films from Ethiopia. Several shorts by the new generation of filmmakers in Ethiopia express perspectives on indigenous Oromo ethnic culture, life under the Derg dictatorship, and feminist urban experience, among other topics. Professor Steve Thomas will introduce the screening, and one or more of the directors may join us via Skype for a post-screening discussion.
Films to be screened will include “Gatishee (Her Pay Back)” by Kelbessa Megersa, “Fedistu Gamee” by Michael Shimeles, “Gumaa” by Kumsa Tamana, “Qanafaa” by Bayisa Tura and Sagni Dibisa and “How Was Your Day” by Hanna Haile.
