Welcome to the 2023-2024 academic year, Wagner College!
It has been a busy summer as we prepared to welcome more than 400 first-time freshmen, and close to 100 total transfer students–our largest incoming class in five years–and welcome all of our students back to Grymes Hill.
Renovation work across campus began the day after Commencement in May and ran throughout the summer. A major interior transformation of Guild Hall is nearing completion, with students moving into completely renewed spaces. The Harborview Hall renovation is progressing on schedule. Students, faculty, and staff will also notice improvements to campus walkways and greenspace, Wi-Fi access, safety and security systems, and classroom technology, among other areas. I thank our students and colleagues for their patience during the continued renovations this year. We'll keep the campus updated on the progress of ongoing construction through the Wagner Weekly.
In the coming months, the college will release a new strategic plan to guide our efforts through the remainder of the decade, developed over the past year and a half in consultation with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and trustees. In late September, we'll welcome alumni and family members to campus for Wagner Weekend, and in early October we'll hold a 25th anniversary celebration of the Wagner Plan for the Practical Liberal Arts, the college's signature curriculum.
This fall marks the start of my 30th year at Wagner. Every year, I look forward to this first day of classes, because the full Wagner community is together again. I am reminded time and again that Wagner's greatest strength truly is the warmth, generosity, and collegiality of our campus community. Have a terrific fall semester!
