The Wagner College community extends its condolences to the family of former nursing professor Marguerite B. White, 96, who died Nov. 28, 2011 at her home in Heritage Village, Conn. She was the wife of the late Willard White, who died in 1986. She was buried Dec. 2, 2011 in New North Cemetery, Woodbury, Conn.
Dr. White was born October 21, 1915 in West New York, New Jersey, daughter of the late Rev. George and Marguerite (Ring) Berrian. She earned her B.S. in Nursing from Skidmore College, her M.S. in Nursing Education from Syracuse University, and her Ed.D. in Nursing Education from Columbia Teachers College. She taught for over 18 years at Skidmore College, Syracuse University and Wagner College (1957-70).
For 10 years, White was the associate dean of the University of Connecticut School of Nursing. She was the author or co-author of four published books on nursing education, including “Curriculum Development from a Nursing Model: The Crisis Theory Framework” (1983).
After retirement, White moved to Heritage Village, where she served two terms on the Condo Board. She was a volunteer with the Heritage Village Ambulance Association for over 20 years, 2 years of which she served as its president. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and following the New York Yankees.
She is survived by two daughters, three grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
