On Monday, April 30, 2012, 7th graders from New World Preparatory School in Port Richmond, Staten Island joined Wagner College students to inaugurate a new Global Leadership Garden at the college's Grymes Hill campus. The flowers in the five plots were punctuated by 15 small, metal plaques displaying inspirational quotations from leaders around the world. Costs for the project were covered by a grant from the Fox Family Fund, created by Wagner College alumnus and trustee Donald M. Fox to promote civic engagement. The story, which aired on New York 1, was reported by Clodagh McGowan.
