The Wagner College women's lacrosse team has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association for posting the highest team GPA of any of the 49 NCAA Division I women's lacrosse programs last season. With that accomplishment the Seahawks have been deemed a Division I Merit Status program by the IWLCA.
Wagner's team GPA of 3.53 put them ahead of Stanford (3.523) and Hofstra (3.50).
"I am extremely proud for our team to be recognized with such a prestigious award," Wagner head coach Cristina Curiale said in a release issued by the school. "Their hard work and dedication to accomplish their goals on and off the field is directly reflected in this honor."
Wagner had two players -- Lauren Petrik and Carolyn Clark -- with a GPA higher than 3.75 during the spring semester and 17 players named to the Northeast Conference Honor Roll.
