Sarah K. Donovan, a professor of philosophy and the division chair of the humanities, has co-edited the latest volume of the American Association of Philosophy Teachers Studies in Pedagogy journal.
This most recent volume, titled Writing in Philosophy: Pedagogy and Practice, explores the many approaches to writing pedagogy in philosophy courses. This peer-reviewed journal is renowned for its focus on original works related to teaching and learning in philosophy.
Along with her co-editor, Renée J. Smith, a professor of Philosophy at Coastal Carolina University, the volume provides valuable insights into innovative strategies, productive assignments, and feedback methods that aim to enhance students' writing skills while in the classroom. This 9th issue features contributions from a wide range of educators, reflecting a multitude of successful teaching styles and practices.
Sarah K. Donovan’s work on this volume exemplifies her dedication to advancing philosophical education and her commitment to mentoring within the academic community here on campus and abroad.
"The inspiration for this volume was the community and shared purpose that I have felt both with my fellow educators at Wagner and with many colleagues who I have met through the American Association of Philosophy Teachers. After over two decades of teaching writing and philosophy at Wagner, I still feel inspired by working with students, curious about innovative teaching, and grateful to be able to work on collaborative volumes like this that hopefully inspire educators to try new pedagogies and find community with each other," Donovan shared.
