Congratulations to Wagner College education professors Katia González and Rhoda Frumkin upon the publication of their new book, “Communicating Effectively and Meaningfully with Diverse Families: An Action Oriented Approach for Early Childhood Educators,” scheduled for release by Brill in May.
According to the publisher, “The book provides readers with opportunities to critically reflect upon the impact of culturally responsive practices and intercultural communication when communicating and collaborating with families.
“With a special focus on inclusive practices and ways to effectively develop partnerships with families, pedagogical strategies are provided highlighting specific case studies. The impact of critical reflection is also explored in this valuable monograph.”
Katia González earned her Ed.D. from Columbia University’s Teachers College in New York. She is an associate professor of education at Wagner College and director of the graduate early childhood program. Gonzalez’s research focuses on the impact of culturally responsive practices and intercultural connections in teacher education programs and schools.
Rhoda Frumkin earned her Ed.D. from Rutgers University in New Jersey. She is an associate professor of education at Wagner College and director of the graduate literacy program. Frumkin’s research focuses on the impact of culturally responsive literacy learning and group dynamics.
