We honor the memories of the Wagner College alumni who lost their lives when the World Trade Center was attacked on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001.
Two events were conducted by the Wagner College community to observe this anniversary:
- On the morning of Friday, Sept. 10, Wagner College students placed 2,977 garden butterfly stakes on Trautmann Square, symbolizing all those we lost on 9/11. At 12 noon, Wagner College marked the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks with an in-person interfaith memorial tribute on Trautmann Square. The service included prayers representing diverse faith traditions, musical selections, reflections from Wagner staff, a wreath-laying ceremony, and the reading of the names of our dearly departed. A special blessing was also provided to members of Wagner’s Public Safety team, many of whom served as first responders on that fateful day.
- On Saturday morning, Sept. 11, Wagner College observed the National Day of Service & Remembrance, honoring those who lost their lives on 9/11, by delivering 250 snack bags to the staff at Richmond University Medical Center.
From the archives: Wagner 9/11 resources — Horrmann Library archivist Lisa Holland has compiled a set of Wagner College resources on the 9/11 attacks, including photos and links to stories about some of our alumni who died in the attacks, and links to relevant articles from the Wagnerian and Wagner Magazine. You will find them on the Horrmann Library website.
