Last night, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the winners of the 34th Annual Sports Emmy Awards at a special ceremony at Frederick P. Rose Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City — and Scott Lewers ’97, a Wagner College business administration graduate, was among the winners! Lewers, senior vice president for programming for the Discovery Channel, was an associate producer of the “Red Bull Stratos: Space Jump” for YouTube, which won the 2013 Sports Emmy award for Outstanding New Approaches Sports Event Coverage. The Red Bull Stratos mission was the famous record-breaking space jump by Felix Baumgartner last October from a capsule suspended at the outer edge of Earth’s atmosphere beneath a weather balloon.
