Paul Hogan’24 loves to entertain. The theater performance major from Long Island had the privilege of performing on the Wagner College Mainstage as the titular role in “Pippin.” Both challenging and rewarding, Hogan says he appreciated the opportunity to share that stage with some really good friends.
When not performing, students can find him working at Cargo Cafe on Bay Street or can listen to his handiwork as the president of the Wagner College Broadcasting Group (WCBG). The multimedia club has over 10 DJs playing music on its radio station, multiple podcasts and a very active blog.
Q&A with Paul
What do you have planned after graduation?
I'm planning to use all the experience I've gained from WCBG to apply for internships at local radio stations. I also write and produce my own music, so I’ll be pursuing a career in that field as well.
What has been your most memorable Wagner moment?
When I was in a band, we came out and played music out in the woods of Staten Island. While we were singing a song I wrote, I fumbled the lyrics and — before I could catch up — the entire crowd sang those lyrics back at me. I will never forget the impact that moment had on me.
What was your favorite class at Wagner?
My favorite class here was probably Musical Theater Performance 3: Pop/Rock. It's been really fun singing a more diverse range of songs in that class.
What's your favorite spot on campus?
I'm a big fan of the bench overlooking the tennis courts. The view of the sun rising in the morning and the Verrazano Bridge can be really stunning.
What’s a fun fact about yourself?
I have three cats and two dogs!
What is a piece of advice you have for incoming freshmen?
Ask questions to faculty, staff, other students — anyone. The community Wagner builds is its foundation, so make sure you reap the benefits of that while you’re here.
