One of the learning tools used by Wagner College’s business program is the Capstone Simulation — Capsim, for short — an extremely sophisticated, online team “game” that pits teams of students from around the world against one another in creating businesses and marketing products. Wagner is the only school in the New York metropolitan area that utilizes Capsim at the undergraduate level and in all three MBA programs (traditional, executive and accelerated).
This semester, the Capsim scenario asked teams to run a global electronic sensor company over an 8-year period. Two Wagner College teams, Erie and Chester, scored extremely high among the 2,000 teams competing worldwide.
Team Erie’s remarkable scores included:
- Stock Price at end of the game — 3rd place (price $402.74/share)
- Profits for the last round — 4th place (four times the mean)
- Cumulative profits for the entire game — 16th place
Team Chester’s results were:
- Stock price — 13th place ($315.58) — 3rd highest ever recorded at Wagner
- Return on Sales — 15th place
- Profit for Round 8 — 53rd place
Team Erie’s members were Tony Jones (Baldwin, N.Y.), Mathilde Letourneux (Paris, France), Evan Odeseye (Castleton Corners, Staten Island) and Trevor Loveland (Cherry Hill, N.J.).
Team Chester consisted of Anthony Fiumefreddo (West Caldwell, N.J.), Naofall Folahan (Cotonou, Benin), Rachel Reeves (East Northport, N.Y.) and David Fredrickson (Woodrow, Staten Island).
