The Wagner College field hockey and women’s soccer teams will both play host to Northeast Conference (NEC) semifinal games on Thursday.

Wagner’s field hockey team enters the NEC Tournament as the regular season champion and will take on #4 LIU on Thursday at 11:00 am at the Wagner College field hockey complex.

The Seahawks’ women’s soccer team, the #2 seed in the NEC Tournament, will take on #3 FDU on Thursday night at Hameline Field at 7:00 pm.

Tickets for both events are available at wagnerathletics.com/tickets.

Just two weeks after having the interim tag lifted, head field hockey coach Aubrey Mytych led the Seahawks to a 7-1 record in conference play, which stands as a new program record, capped off by a 2-1 victory over Rider on Friday night to clinch the first outright regular season title in program history.

Earlier this season, the Green & White set a new program record with four consecutive shutouts from September 20 to September 29, defeating Mercyhurst (5-0), Hofstra (4-0), LIU (4-0), and Columbia (1-0).

The Green & White won four consecutive games two separate times during the 2024 campaign, doing so for the first time since the 2021 season. The winner of Thursday’s semifinal will take on either #2 Rider or #3 Fairfield on Saturday at noon at the Wagner field hockey complex.

Under the guidance of head coach Phil Casella, Wagner’s women’s soccer team will host a playoff game for the first time in program history. The Seahawks’ 7-1-2 record in NEC action stands as a program record, with Wagner allowing just two goals in seven games in November.

This marks the Seahawks’ fourth NEC Tournament appearance and the first time Wagner has qualified for the postseason in consecutive seasons. Last season, the Seahawks entered the tournament as the #6 seed before knocking off #3 FDU 3-0 in the opening round and then defeating #1 Merrimack in the semifinal on penalty shots. In the final, Wagner fell to CCSU on penalty shots.

The winner of Thursday night’s semifinal will take on either #1 Howard or #4 Stonehill on Sunday at the site of the highest remaining seed.
