Classically trained soul and jazz vocalist Alicia Waller, an adjunct professor in Wagner College Theatre program, will perform live at Chelsea Table + Stage on Friday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m., following the release of her debut full-length album, Louder, Then.
Waller is a songwriter and vocalist whose work draws from contemporary R&B, soul and jazz, filtered through an array of global influences. For the Chelsea performance, she will be joined by a backing ensemble featuring Takahiro Izumikawa on keys, Philippe Clement on guitar, Marcos Varela on bass and Danno Petersen on drums.
Recently called “a force” by DownBeat magazine, Waller is establishing herself as one of New York’s emerging voices. With a background in opera and a master’s degree in music diplomacy, her work brings together a range of musical influences as a statement of identity, ambition and artistic freedom.
Listen to Louder, Then, Waller’s debut album features eight tracks:
“Tempo 120”
“Rhythm Play”
“My Day, Pt. I”
“My Day, Pt. II (If for the first time)”
“Someday We’ll All Be Free”
