Wagner College continues to expand its academic offerings in ways that reflect the evolving job market and the priorities of today’s students and families. As industries shift and career paths become more dynamic, Wagner is responding with programs that are forward-looking and grounded in real-world opportunity. Two of the newest additions, Digital Design and Human Services, bring that momentum to life.
These programs grew out of faculty insight and initiative, shaped by close attention to industry trends and a clear understanding of what students and their families are seeking: practical skills, meaningful career pathways, and an education that leads to long-term success.
The new Digital Design major blends creativity with rapidly advancing technologies, preparing students to work across areas like UX/UI design, motion graphics, 3D modeling, digital fabrication, and interactive media. Students gain hands-on experience with industry tools and emerging technologies, including AI-assisted design workflows, while building a strong foundation in visual communication and problem-solving. The program is designed to meet the growing demand for professionals who can create engaging, user-centered digital experiences across industries ranging from media and entertainment to business and technology.
“Today’s creative industries are evolving at an unprecedented pace, and there is a clear demand for designers who can think critically, adapt across media, and engage with emerging technologies. Our program is built to empower students to not only respond to these shifts, but to actively shape the future of creative practice through innovation, collaboration, and hands-on making,” said Assistant Professor and Director of Digital Design Markus Haala.
At the same time, Wagner’s new Human Services major responds to a different but equally urgent need by preparing students to support individuals, families, and communities in a rapidly changing social landscape. With concentrations in Social Work and Family Services, Criminal Justice, and Pre-Law, the program offers focus and flexibility, allowing students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. Through coursework and applied learning experiences, students develop the skills needed to work in nonprofit organizations, social service agencies, healthcare settings, and legal or advocacy fields.
“We are excited to offer new academic opportunities and career development to students who are dedicated to meeting the ever-shifting needs of their communities,” said Division Chair and Professor Celeste Gagnon, Ph.D.
Together, these programs reflect a shared approach. Wagner faculty are identifying emerging opportunities and creating programs that prepare students to pursue them with confidence. As Wagner continues to grow, these newest programs highlight the college’s focus on forward-thinking academics, faculty leadership, and helping students and families invest in an education that leads to meaningful futures.
