The second show of Wagner College Theatre’s exciting spring season is Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt’s 1969 musical “Celebration.” The show will run on Saturday, April 10 and Sunday, April 11, with show times each night at 8 p.m.
Current students, staff and faculty will be able to watch performances in person at our outdoor stage, adjacent to Main Hall.
Members of the broader community will be able to watch live webcasts through ShowTix4U. (For the ShowTix4U link, go to facebook.com/WagnerCollegeTheatre on one of the performance dates.)
A theatrical fable, “Celebration” explores the relationships of young and old, innocent and corrupt, poor and wealthy. Written by the same team that brought “The Fantasticks” to the stage in 1960, the poetic lyrics and “eerie, yet accessible” score (as one critic put it) are sure to fascinate and delight.
“Celebration” is directed by Joey Donnelly ’10 and choreographed by Graham Keen ’10 with musical direction by Wendy Bobbitt Cavett (Broadway’s “Come From Away,” “Hamilton” and “Mamma Mia”).
“Celebration” features students Miles Wilke, Christiana Alicante, Sydney Chow, Remy Barson, Lindy Pokorny, Elbi Cespedes, Elise Killian, James Brautigam, Kate Durgin, Ben Sellers, Lila Cooper, Anthony E. LoGrande, Colleen Kelly, Ali Nitowski, Catena Vallone and Triston Qawi.
The creative team includes Phill Hickox (production manager and scenic designer), Vicki Neal (lighting co-designer, video supervisor), Anna Kruger-Dull (lighting co-designer), Conchetta Aronowitz (sound designer), Alan Michael Smith (costume designer), Teagan Hamel (hair/makeup designer), Mo Omilian (props master/assistant production manager), Brian Sharron (technical director), Wayne Ogle (master electrician), Fritz Roads (master carpenter), Hailey Delaney (production stage manager), Noah McKane (assistant music director) and Kamila Zando (assistant director).
This is the second in the WCT lineup for a safe, socially distanced spring season. Next up is “Dance Project 2021” (May 7-9), offered by Choreography II students. Then Directing II students will collaborate with Playwriting students to showcase original student plays (May 8-9). A live performance of WCT’s annual Senior Showcase, featuring the Theatre Performance Class of 2021, will be staged on May 14-15. The season will conclude with the satirical musical comedy “Urinetown” (May 16-20). All shows will be performed live for the campus audience with live webcasts through the WCT Facebook page.
