Graduation Requirements

Doctor of Occupational Therapy Student Graduation Requirements

The following table summarizes what is required for graduation from the Wagner College Occupational Therapy Program to earn a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree, be considered “an entry-level generalist occupational therapy practitioner,” and be eligible to sit for the National Board for the Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certification Exam which enables graduates to apply for licensure to practice occupational therapy in the state or states of their choice.

The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) Educational Standards and Wagner College require a bachelor’s degree earned over three to four years of full-time undergraduate or pre-professional study (which is inclusive of required professional phase prerequisite coursework) from a regionally accredited institution to be eligible to enter the graduate-level professional phase of study to earn an entry-level doctorate in occupational therapy (OTD) degree. Therefore, the minimum of six years of total full-time study is required to earn the OTD degree.

All questions related to the graduation requirements should be directed to the program director.
