Summer Musical Theatre Institute

July 7-20, 2019

Summer Musical Theatre Institute (SMTI) at Wagner College gives high school students from around the country the opportunity to learn about all aspects of musical theatre performance from theatre professionals in the Wagner College and New York City community. In a two-week, on-campus intensive, students receive rigorous, college caliber training in acting, singing, improvisation, and dancing--taught in a supportive, professional environment. Students gain insights into the professional world of New York City theatre through visits from industry experts and trips to Broadway productions. Students are encouraged to apply early as there are a limited number of spots available. We only accept 12 students each year.

The Institute culminates in a showcase of student performances for family, friends, and the Wagner community. SMTI gives students a learning experience that is professional and positive-rigorous training and serious fun. During the Institute, SMTI students also have visited and spoken with the stars of productions including Memphis, EvitaStomp, Spiderman, Paramour, Billy Elliot, and more! Each student also participates in a professional photography session and receives a selection of his/her shots.

Wagner College is located in the beautiful Grymes Hill section of Staten Island, a short shuttle ride from the famous Staten Island Ferry that takes students into Manhattan. SMTI is the perfect segue from high school to college, introducing the serious student to the professional world of musical theatre.

Acceptance into the Institute is by audition See SMTI FAQS for more info. To contact us:
