WAGNER COLLEGE THEATRE CELEBRATES ALUMNI DURING THE 2026 AWARD SEASON
Wagner College Theatre is proud to celebrate the incredible achievements of our alumni during the 2026 awards season. From acclaimed revivals to groundbreaking new works, Wagner alumni made a significant impact on Broadway and beyond, with productions earning recognition at both the 2026 Drama Desk Awards (May 17 at Town Hall) and the 79th Annual Tony Awards (June 7 at Radio City Music Hall).
One of this season's most highly acclaimed shows is the Lincoln Center Theater engagement of City Center’s production of RAGTIME at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. Julie Mason Groob '07 is a leader a New York City Center, serving as Vice President & Chief Operating Officer. RAGTIME received five Drama Desk Awards and four Tony Awards, along with many more nominations.
Several Waggies contributed to two of the season’s most celebrated productions, GIANT and THE LOST BOYS. Madeleine DiGaetano ‘26 concluded her senior year as a Company & General Management Intern with Bespoke Theatricals, supporting both productions through a wide range of responsibilities, including coordinating events, preparing materials, and assisting with day-to-day operations. More Good Productions, co-owned by Wagner alumni Ray Wetmore ‘07 and JR Goodman ‘13, provided prop supervision for both productions. GIANT won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Play and won the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play. THE LOST BOYS earned two Drama Desk Awards from five nominations and received an impressive twelve Tony Award nominations, of which it won four. More Good Productions also handled Production Props for DEATH OF A SALESMAN, EVERY BRILLIANT THING, ALL OUT: COMEDY ABOUT AMBITION, CHESS, and THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLE.
The revival of THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BE at New World Stages also benefited from strong Wagner representation. Alumni involved with the production include Emmy Steele ‘20 (Company Manager), Viraj Shriwardankar ‘22 (Assistant Company Manager), Allison Madrazo ‘21 (Spelling Wrangler), Ella Martin ‘23 (Spelling Wrangler), and Nicholas Buchholz ‘17 (Press Agent). With such a remarkable Wagner presence behind the scenes, it is no surprise that the production received three Drama Desk Award nominations, including Outstanding Revival of a Musical.
Nicholas also served as Press Agent on BURNOUT PARADISE which won the 2026 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience.
Dillon Burke ‘23 enjoyed an especially busy season. He served as Assistant Company Manager for GRUESOME PLAYGROUND INJURIES, a Drama Desk Award–nominated production. He then joined DOG DAY AFTERNOON in the same role. The production went on to receive three Tony Award nominations. Also on DOG DAY AFTERNOON is Rozzie Heeger ‘18 (Deputy General Manager, August Wilson Theatre).
Additionally, Brendan McCann ‘14 designed and built select props for the highly anticipated Broadway transfer of TITANÍQUE, which earned four Tony Award nominations.
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of THE BOOK OF MORMON, the Tony Awards will feature a performance by the original cast which includes Scott Barnhardt ‘01.
