Entry into the Pre-Health Program
Students may apply for admission into the program at any time but are strongly encouraged to do so during freshman year. Please complete the Entry Questionnaire and the Letter of Release Form. Once both of these are completed and returned to a member of the Pre-Professional Health Committee, the student will be conditionally entered into the program.
Students should apply for formal admission during their sophomore year. For a student to acquire formal admission, the student must have demonstrated that they have the academic skills necessary to be considered as a strong candidate for professional programs as evidenced by a GPA of at least 3.2. Students must complete a self-assessment essay, and submit an unofficial transcript downloaded from myWagner, plus two letters of recommendation in support of the student from Wagner Faculty (one of whom must be the academic advisor). If the student is unable to demonstrate these requirements, they will be dropped from the program. *Students can apply for formal admission at any point after the freshman year.
During the admitted stage (sophomore to senior years), pre–medical and pre–veterinary students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.5. Students in other programs must maintain a GPA of at least 3.2. To obtain a committee letter from the Program, students must also demonstrate that they are successfully completing their Pre–Professional Health Program requirements by attending all mandatory Pre-Heath Program meetings and by submitting a resume, unofficial transcript (downloaded from myWagner), personal statement and letters of recommendation to a co-chair of the committee at the beginning of the application year (typically spring semester of the junior year).
