Music Competition Winner
Connor Gibbs '17 is a vocalist and composer from Easthampton, Massachusetts. He is a music major at Wagner College, where he participates in the College Choir, Opera Workshop, and Espresso ensembles. He sang the tenor voice in the 2015 winning composition, The Eternal Theatre by Will Pegg '16, and is thrilled to appear again at the Players Club. Connor would like to express his gratitude to Professor Barbara Wesby of the Music Department, and to the trio that will perform tonight's debut of The Beast In The Cave -- professors Sanchie Bobrow, Ed Brown, and Georgette Ionesco.
The Beast In The Cave, based on Howard Phillips Lovecraft's story, creates a musical setting of this little drama. One man from an exploratory party wanders off from the tour group and enters a cavern. He becomes lost and must defend himself against a creature that appears to wish him harm. The man is able to kill the monster and reunite with the tour guide, but they ultimately discover together that the monster was another lost explorer.
