Mary Caracappa-Hurtado ’82 was elected to the Board of Trustees at the February 2014 meeting. She is serving her first term, which expires in 2017. As a member of the Board, Mary is secretary to the Executive Committee, chair of the ByLaws Committee, vice chair of the Business & Finance Committee, and serves on the Academic Affairs, Audit, Strategic Planning and Marketing Task Force Committees.
Mary is a Managing Director in Morgan Stanley’s Firm Strategy and Execution department as the head of the Firmwide Global New Products Department. Prior to that she served in the Investment Management Division, as head of divisional reporting and analytics, as well as serving as the division’s liaison with regulators and audit functions. She served as Chief Administrative Officer for the Firm’s Real Estate and Private Equity Division from 2007 to 2010, leading a successful global process / technology platform reengineering initiative.
Mary has been with Morgan Stanley since 1986. She was the Firm’s Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance Officer and the Operational Risk Manager for the Finance Division from 2003-2006. She held the role as the Global Investment Banking & Real Estate Controller from 1999-2002, and for the Global Wealth Management Division from 2001-2004. Mary has also had a broad experience across Controllers, with earlier roles serving as a controller for Company Functions (Corporate Reporting & Budgeting, IT Finance) as well as product divisions (Debt/Equity Syndicates, Equities (Cash Products, Reporting)).
Prior to Morgan Stanley, Mary served as a Controller for General Occidental Holdings Mgmt. Co. after three years in audit with Price Waterhouse Cooper in New York.
Mary graduated from Wagner College with a BS in Accounting She serves on the boards of the Women’s Bond Club as their Co-President and Village Care. She is a Certified Public Accountant.
