Deer became a common sight on Staten Island in 2014, even on the Wagner College campus. Throughout the spring and summer, groups of two to three deer were frequently seen at night — Dean Sara Klein captured a few foggy, atmospheric shots of them in May 2014, which became a popular post on the Wagner Facebook page. As of early 2014, the New York City Parks Department estimated the Staten Island deer population to be almost 800 strong. Read more about it in the Staten Island Advance.
