Class Notes
- Elena Rotzokou ’21 will present her paper on the nineteenth-century English poet John Keats titled “Keats, Time, and Revolution” to the students in EN224 on Monday, November 18 at 1:00 pm. After graduating Wagner, she completed a masters degree at Oxford University in 2022. She is currently working toward her PhD at Columbia University. Her essay “Misreading the Air” on the Ethiopian-American novelist Dinaw Mengestu was just published this month in the scholarly journal Ariel — a paper she began writing for her Senior Learning Community (SLC) at Wagner College. She also has a second scholarly essay “Repetition and John Clare’s Lyric of Withdrawn Revelation,” which is forthcoming in The European Romantic Review.
- Catharine & Alexander Carson ’13 welcomed their first daughter, Marlowe Jane this October! Little Marlowe Jane enters a long line of Wagner graduates, as her grandmother, Carol Hluchy Carson ’77, and great-grandfather, Stephen Hluchy ’54 went to Wagner as well! See you in 2043, Marlowe!
- Joshua Key-Maginnis ’06 and wife, Erica Jensen, welcomed twin babies Evelyn and Ronan. Welcome to the world, little Seahawks!
- Jacob Browne ’05 M’08 was named Executive Director of Admission at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY. Previously he served as Director of Admission and subsequently Dean of Admission at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL from 2014-2024. Prior to his time at Eckerd, he worked in the admission office at Wagner College from 2005-2014.
- In May 2024, Kelsey Hopland ’16 received a PhD in Neuroscience from Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City.
- Mercedes Woodward (nee Forrest) ’14, and her husband, Tyler, are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Violet in May 2024. Welcome to the Wagner Community!
- Dr. Christina Klein ’93 has exciting news to share! Her artwork was chosen to be on view along with the latest exhibition of the famous Austrian artist Gustav Klimt’s landscapes at the opulent and elegant mansion of the Neue Galerie Museum on 5th Avenue in Manhattan! Only 16 pieces of art were selected from a large number of submissions by a special jury for this exclusive exhibit that was on public display in May 2024. Her contribution was inspired by Klimt’s “Poppy Field.”
- Dr. Jeff S. Dailey ’80, founded the early music ensemble Collectio Musicorum in 2014. The group celebrated its 10th anniversary with a concert on October 18th, which was part of the Festival of Early Music. The ensemble focuses on music from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, just like the Wagner College Collegium Musicum used to. Dr. Dailey has also been hosting reunions of the Collegium and friends, both online and in person. The next reunion will be in April 2025 and details may be found on the Collegium website–Home.
- Paul Fein ’69 is going to press with his third leadership book, The Leadership Development Took Kit: Learning Methodologies to Build and Grow Core Leadership Competencies.
- Gwen Suesse (nee von der Osten) ’67 published her book, Notes From Planet Widow: Finding My Way After Loss.
- Joselito Ybanez ’18 has been featured as Sir Paul McCartney in Studio Two- The Beatles Tribute for almost a year and a half. This year he performed in venues in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont celebrating the 60 year anniversary of The Beatles arrival in the United States. - Zuzana Plesa EdD ’63 published her second book, Mama, about the mother-daughter relationship, and its importance for the healthy development of the daughter. She continues to counsel active duty military members and their families.
- Vincent De Lucia ’72 was appointed to the Rutgers School of, of Management & Labor Advisory Board.
- Adam Nicolais ‘13 started a new position at Rothwell, Figg, Ernst & Manbeck P.C. as an intellectual property attorney (patent and trademark prosecution and litigation specialist), while Jillian Nicolais ‘13 started a new position at Capital Laundry Co. LLC as Marketing Lead. Congratulations!
- Noah James Perito ’16 & Lisa Condemi ’18 are set to begin the third campaign on their original Dungeons & Dragons actual play podcast – Try Not To Die. Using dice rolls and improv to tell fantastical queer stories, they have generated over 35,000 listens and a dedicated fanbase. Tune in!
- Heather Doherty, class of 1995, continues to grow her personal assistant business in the Lehigh Valley, PA. She is the proud grandmother to a grandson, Leo, and recently enjoyed a Florida trip to reconnect with fellow 1995 honors college alumni, Stephanie Prendergast.
- Congratulations to Melissa Wells, Ed.D. ’10, who has been selected to serve as the next Director of Teaching, Learning, and Faculty Development with Empire State University’s Center for Mentoring, Learning and Academic Innovation (CMLAI).
- Russ Johnson, ’67 M’72, has published his 27th novel, Tasting Revenge. The psychological thriller is available exclusively from Amazon. His 28th novel, The Cuba Reckoning, will be released by Amazon in December. For more information about the author, visit https://hamptonwestbrook.com/.
