Graduate Students & Financial Aid

Obtaining a graduate education can be quite rewarding and expensive.  Many students rely upon financial assistance to help them afford the graduate experience.

The various types of financial assistance are listed below:

Graduate Assistantships

Wagner offers GA positions through the Division of Graduate Studies. Accelerated MBA and Executive MBA students are ineligible for GA positions. In addition, Graduate Assistants cannot hold full-time employment elsewhere.

Please visit the Graduate Studies webpage for additional information.  All GAs must complete a FAFSA and Graduate Enrollment Form.  A copy of your signed Graduate Assistant contract must be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid so your tuition credits may be applied appropriately.  Those receiving Graduate Assistantships may not simultaneously receive any other institutional aid or assistantship from the College.

Alumni Fellowships

Alumni Fellowships are awarded to full-time graduate students who completed their undergraduate degree at Wagner College.  The Fellowship is limited to degree-seeking graduate students and those in the Educational Leadership or Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate programs only.  Executive MBA students, Graduate Adolescent Education and Doctoral* students are ineligible for the Alumni Fellowship.

Fellows receive a 25% tuition discount.  During the regular academic year (fall/spring), students must be registered for a minimum of 9 credits and a maximum of 12 credits each semester in order to receive the discount. During the summer session, a student must be registered for a minimum of 6 credits and maximum of 12 credits in order to benefit from the Fellowship.

*Doctoral students who completed an undergraduate degree at Wagner may be eligible for a discount up to $3500 per semester.

Those receiving Alumni Fellowships may not simultaneously receive any other institutional aid or assistantship from the College.

Teacher Tuition Waivers

Graduate Students who elect to utilize a Teacher Tuition Waiver are prohibited from receiving any other type of institutional aid.  Information about this waiver, may be obtained from the Education Department.

Community Health Discount (prior to Spring 2024)

A 15% tuition discount is available to employees of Staten Island University Hospital who matriculate at Wagner College on a full-time or part-time basis.  SIUH employees must provide proof of employment.  Discounts will be applied only from the time that the proof is provided for that current academic year and going forward.  Disounts will not be provide for academic years prior to the receipt of proof of employment. Recipients of the Community Health Discount are prohibited from receiving any other type of institutional aid.

Community Health Discount/Signature Graduate Partner Scholarship

Effective Spring 2024, an 18% tuition discount is available to employees of Northwell Healthcare who matriculate at Wagner College as a graduate student on a full-time or part-time basis. Northwell employees must provide proof of employment.  Discounts will be applied only from the time that the proof is provided for that current academic year and going forward.  Discounts will not be provide for academic years prior to the receipt of proof of employment. Recipients of the discount are prohibited from receiving any other type of institutional aid.  The program is limited to those in the MBA, Microbiology, Nursing and Education graduate program; doctoral students do not qualify.

Staten Island MBA Discount

Effective Spring 2023, students enrolled in the MBA program may be eligible to receive the Staten Island MBA Discount.  Interested candidates must provide proof of Staten Island residency or employment on Staten Island to the Office of Admissions. The discount is 12% per credit.  This discount may not be combined with any other discount.

Preferred Partner Discount

Effective Spring 2023, newly enrolled students in the MBA program may be eligible to receive the Preferred Partner Discount.  Interested candidates must provide proof of employment with a Preferred Partner to the Office of Admissions upon application to the program. The discount is 18% per credit and may not be combined with any other discount.

Payment Plan

You may sign up for a payment plan in Student Account Center (accessed through the billing tab in myWagner) or by calling Nelnet at 800-609-8056.

Loans

There are multiple types of educational loans available to graduate students.  These include the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan, Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan and alternative loans.

Students who wish to borrow a loan must complete the FAFSA and a Graduate Enrollment Worksheet .

We strongly encourage you to utilize federal loans before alternative loans.
