In addition to the federal, state and institutional regulations mentioned elsewhere on this site, below are the regulations in place by the United States in regard to work eligibility for foreign nationals. Any international student interested in working while on campus should read the information below.

- Students on an F-1 visa are eligible to work on campus without authorization from US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) only if they will not be displacing a US citizen seeking employment
- International students may work under Regular Payroll only. It is recommended that international studnets meet with an advisor in the Center for Intercultural Advancement to discuss employment options and the process for obtaining a Social Security Card.
- Students may work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and 28 hours per week during break periods.
- A review of valid identification for employment is required as well as completion of the W-4 and I-9 forms.
- Any student interested in working in the US must have a valid Social Security Card. You may obtain information about the Social Security Card directly from the Social Security Administration.

Process for International Student to Obtain Regular Pay Position
Step 1: Students go through the job database to see which regular pay positions are available and completes an application.
Step 2: Student contacts the hiring manager - is interviewed if it is part of the requirement.
Step 3: If the hiring manager wants to hire the student, a Social Security Administration template letter on Wagner letterhead must be provided to the student.
Step 4: The student will make an appointment with the Social Security Administration to obtain a Social Security Card. This processs may take 3 to 6 weeks.
Step 5: Upon receipt of the Social Security Card, the student will make an appointment with Financial Aid to go through the full hiring process.
